People throughout the Southeast trust Vanderbilt Spine Center to treat their back and neck pain, sciatica and other problems involving the spine. We bring many specialists together to offer care tailored to each patient, including treatment without surgery. If surgery is needed, our team offers broad experience in the most innovative treatments, which we demonstrate through our excellent outcomes.

Spine Care: Why Choose Vanderbilt

Many doctors struggle with how best to help patients with their back or neck pain. This is especially true when you’ve had many kinds of treatment for an injury or a complex condition, with little or no improvement. We are known for:

  • A full spectrum of care. We don’t automatically route patients to surgery. Treatment options include physical therapy, medications and injections. If surgery is needed, we offer both minimally invasive and traditional surgery.
  • A team of experts. Physiatrists, interventional pain experts, neurologists, orthopaedists, orthopaedic surgeons, oncologists, anesthesiologists and other specialists on our team work together to help you decrease or eliminate pain and improve your quality of life.
  • National recognition.  U.S. News & World Report ranks us among the top 50 hospitals in the country for neurology and neurosurgery. BlueCross BlueShield names us a Blue Distinction Center for high quality spine surgery care. And Becker’s Healthcare names us to its list of 100 hospitals with great neurosurgery and spine programs.
  • Telehealth services. We can offer specialty follow-up care to you through a simple video consult with your local doctor. This means you have access to a Vanderbilt specialist, close to home.
  • Long-term follow-up. Unlike any other spine center in the region, the Vanderbilt Spine Center carefully tracks how our patients are doing, years after surgery. We use this information to improve how we care for patients every day.
  • Superior outcomes. On average, our patients report significant improvements in pain, general health and quality of life a year after surgery. View our surgical outcomes.
