Pregnancy Care and Delivery

The Vanderbilt pregnancy care and delivery team has the skills and experience to provide the expert care you want for yourself and your baby. You’re bringing a new, one-of-a-kind life into the world. From prenatal care through delivery, we’re here with care and support.

Pregnancy Care and Delivery: Why Choose Vanderbilt

  • Experienced doctors: Every member of our team is specially trained for caring for women during pregnancy, labor and delivery. This includes board-certified obstetricians, certified midwives, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, nurses specializing in obstetrics and labor and delivery, and obstetric anesthesiologists. We have the skills and training to care for any woman’s pregnancy, including those at high risk of complications.
  • Specialized expertise: When you’re pregnant, the best-laid plans may change. By choosing Vanderbilt, you can be sure you have everything and everyone you need, whatever happens. If you or your baby need a specialist, our colleagues are at the ready. If your baby needs special care before or after birth, we have the most advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Fetal Center at Monroe Carell  Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
  • Personalized care: Few experiences in life are more important than where and how you give birth. Whether you are looking for a water birth or low-intervention delivery, or if you need a VBAC or a Cesarean section, we have a full spectrum of birthing options at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and baby+co. Our team works with you to develop a birth plan to meet you and your family's unique needs. Your goals and comfort are also important to us, so we offer a wide variety of pain management options, plus we are in the process of upgrading our rooms.
  • Convenience:  You don’t have to choose between convenience and the best possible care. We partner with hospitals throughout the region to allow you to deliver close to home. Prenatal care is offered at our Vanderbilt One Hundred Oaks clinic as well as women’s health centers in other communities. High-risk deliveries usually occur at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. In other cases, our clinicians also deliver at Northcrest, Williamson and Maury Regional medical centers.
  • Advanced care: As part of a large medical center, our team and their colleagues can address complex medical problems that may affect a pregnancy. These include diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, lupus, seizure disorder, loss of an earlier pregnancy, history of drug or alcohol use, or a history of pregnancy complications such as preterm labor or preeclampsia. We also care for women pregnant with multiples.
  • Bundled payment: If your employer participates in Vanderbilt Health’s maternity bundle program, you may be eligible for MyMaternityHealth. MyMaternityHealth provides an enhanced medical care and service experience for expectant mothers with little to no out-of-pocket costs. The program is an innovative approach that coordinates and “bundles” all the services an expectant mother will need as a part of her pregnancy. *Please check with your employer’s human resources department to see if MyMaternityHealth is an available healthcare benefit.

Virtual Childbirth Education Classes and Support Groups

The safety and well-being of our patients, families, staff and communities is our highest priority.

Because of the risk of influenza and coronavirus (COVID-19), all of our in-person childbirth education classes are now being offering virtually in collaboration with baby+co., a Vanderbilt Health facility. We have made these classes and support groups free for all registrants, and will evaluate the needs of our patients as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves.

Please register for each class on Eventbrite. You will receive a personalized Zoom link for each class via email. A certified childbirth educator will teach each class live. Participants will be able to ask questions.

If you previously registered for a paid class, you will receive refunds for any class fees that have been paid.

Visit babyandcompany.eventbrite.com for all classes and events with complete descriptions.

Looking for a support group? We have you covered.
