Do you know what it is like to go shopping, find the perfect outfit, and they don't have your size? Go out to eat and feel like everyone is looking at you? Feel like you have so much more to offer in life, but just can't because of your health and weight? I have had the same feelings and much more. That is why I decided to make a change in my life and have weight loss surgery. I became a new person on March 23, 2010.
I have had a weight problem as long as I can remember. I reached my heaviest weight in January 2010 at 315 pounds. Being overweight had become more than just a number to me. I was on my way to becoming a diabetic, having high blood pressure, and not being able to have children. I didn't want to go anywhere and didn't want to do anything. I had become someone that I didn't even know.
I contacted the Vanderbilt Weight Loss Clinic to see what options were available. Gastric bypass was the option that I chose because I wanted something that gave me discipline with great results. After 1 year, I had lost 130 pounds, and I feel amazing.
I feel like a completely different person on the outside. I finally feel like the outside matches what I should have been years ago. I've found a new love for 5K and 10K runs. I know that I will continue to do these activities and will be running them all one day.
I feel like the surgery has been good for me and my entire family. I have motivated many people to lose weight and get healthy. I currently teach a Body Boot Camp Class 3 times a week at my local gym. I'm going back to school to be a personal trainer so I can continue my goals as well. I'm also working on a Teen Program for my community to help overweight teens get into shape. I'm so happy to help others as much as I can. I think everyone has the right to feel as great as I do.
