How are we unique? The Vanderbilt Digestive Disease Center is one of the few digestive disease clinics in the state that has open access endoscopy. This allows you to refer your patients directly for the procedures they need. Our department provides a collaborative effort with other specialties available at Vanderbilt. This enables us to provide the highest quality of care for our patients and referring providers.

The Physician Liaison Department is available to assist physicians and other healthcare providers in meeting their referral, consultative, patient care, and continuing medical education needs. This department also helps facilitate access to other medical center resources. Continuing Medical Education programs are offered as a courtesy to physician groups and hospital staff throughout the region. If you are interested in any of these services, contact Physician Liaison in Nashville at (615) 936-6500 or toll-free at (800) 288-5000, ext. 6-6500.
The Transfer Center was created to assist referring physicians and facilities in quickly and efficiently transferring patients to Vanderbilt. It is staffed by an R.N. Transfer Nurse during regular business hours and Life Flight EMTs or paramedics at night and on weekends. The nurse will obtain information about the patient and put the referring physician in touch with the appropriate VUMC physician. Once approval has been obtained to transfer the patient, the Transfer Nurse will handle the logistics of the transfer. The Transfer Center can be reached at (615) 343-0976 or (877) 236-4888.
