The Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease has partnered with the Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennesse, a community based organization. The Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that provides services to patients and families affected by sickle cell disease. The Foundation was founded in 2008 by Trevor K. Thompson and Cherry N. Whitehead-Thompson.
Since then, the Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee has built a network of consumers affected by sickle cell to raise awareness, provide education, and social services throughout the State of Tennessee and the Mid-South (Crittenden County, Arkansas and north Mississippi). As a result of the partnership with the Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease, the foundation now has a satellite office in Nashville allowing individuals in the Middle Tennessee area to join in our concerted efforts.
