Dr. Martin has joined the faculty in the Department of Medicine and Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University. She is a consultant on the palliative care consultation service at Vanderbilt University. In addition, she follows patients in her outpatient palliative care practice. Dr. Martin received her bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and medical degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her internship and residency at Vanderbilt University. During her residency training, she worked with Drs. Karlekar and Misra and developed a passion for palliative medicine. She is one of Vanderbilt University's first graduates from the Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship program. She was recruited by Vanderbilt to lead the outpatient palliative care program.
Her academic interests include resident and student education, communication with patient and care providers. She presented at the Annual Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine in the area of cultural diversity. She is instrumental in the development of the palliative care resources for residents and medical students at VUMC. She is currently working on research projects involving palliative care in the intensive care units at Vanderbilt.
