Gynecologic Oncology

Our Gynecologic Oncology Program is dedicated to preventing, diagnosing and treating cancers that begin in a woman's reproductive organs. This includes cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal and vulvar cancers. Our team of specialists also treat pre-cancerous changes of the cervix, vulva and vagina.

Gynecologic Oncology: Why Choose Vanderbilt

  • Leading expertise: Our board certified gynecologic oncologists are members of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. Vanderbilt-Ingram is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Tennessee that treats both adult and pediatric patients. This means you receive the highest level of care from experienced cancer experts and access to robust clinical trials.
  • Top experts: Our doctors received advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers and pre-cancerous conditions that start in a woman’s reproductive organs. As leading cancer experts, our doctors also serve in the organizations responsible for establishing national guidelines for patient care.
  • Team approach: Cancer care requires the expertise of specialists in many different disciplines. Our gynecologic oncologists, nurse practitioners and nurses work closely with other cancer experts to ensure you receive advanced care. Our team consults with experts in cardiology (heart), nephrology (kidney) and other medical specialties to help you achieve optimal health.
  • Tumor boards: At our regular tumor boards (cancer care meetings), our doctors discuss every new cancer diagnosis. Some of the nation’s leading cancer experts across medical disciplines work together to develop a personalized care plan for you.
  • Advanced care: We use advanced treatment techniques, including robotic surgery, radiation therapy and innovative medical approaches. At Vanderbilt, you have access to a wide range of NCI-sponsored clinical trials. We will tailor a care plan that has your individual needs in mind.
  • Clinical trials: We offer access to cancer clinical trials investigating new, advanced approaches to care. As part of your personalized care plan, we may discuss if a clinical trial is right for you.
  • Innovative research: We are dedicated to developing new and better cancer care options through clinical trials. Our doctors offer robust clinical trials, but also initiate research studies based on the latest scientific advancements. In these studies, our experts are pioneering the research and managing key decisions along the way.
  • Recognized care: U.S. News & World Report ranks Vanderbilt among the best in the country for adult gynecology and cancer care. This designation recognizes that we have some of the top doctors in the U.S. providing advanced care and superior outcomes.
  • 24/7 access to specialists: You have access to our cancer experts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you require immediate care, our on-call doctor will ensure you receive the care you need.
