Physical Therapy Services

For Voice and Speech

Dayani staff partner with the Vanderbilt Voice Center to create a physical therapy program for people with muscle tension dysphonia.

This condition can affect someone’s ability to speak, sing, breathe and/or swallow. Our program addresses muscle imbalances, posture problems and limitations that contribute to a loss of a fully functioning voice or the ability to properly breathe or swallow.

The Vanderbilt Voice Center is one of the few voice centers in the nation to address vocal dysfunction by using physical therapy in addition to speech-language therapy. Our physical therapists specialize in manual therapy and therapeutic exercise.

Aquatic Physical Therapy

Physical therapy in the pool is for patients with full-body arthritis or pain, or who are unable to exercise comfortably on land. Aquatic therapy increases strength, flexibility and walking ability in a safe environment that does not worsen pain. Your physical therapist will help you design a water exercise program  to continue on your own.

Dayani’s shallow warm-water therapeutic pool has a step entrance and chair lift for those who need help getting in and out of the water.

Physical Therapy for Cancer Patients

Our physical therapists tailor a rehabilitation program to address problems that arise during or after cancer treatment. We provide hands-on treatment as well as a personalized program to address strengthening, flexibility or conditioning retraining. If you are at risk for lymphedema we will teach you how to prevent and/or manage this as well.

Lymphedema Physical Therapy

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes carrying protein-rich fluid. It functions as the body’s waste filtration system. Lymphedema is a chronic condition that occurs when this system cannot adequately drain the fluid. Lymphedema causes swelling, which in turn can be painful and impair mobility.

Our physical therapists are certified  by the Lymphology Association of North America. We customize treatment for each client.
