Hemostasis and Thrombosis Clinic

The Vanderbilt Hemostasis and Thrombosis Clinic provides complete care to those with inherited bleeding disorders. We are committed to providing the highest quality care for our patients. Your care will include comprehensive care visits, preventive medical services, diagnostic testing, genetic testing and counseling, individual case management, education and training, options for home treatment and referrals when necessary. We also offer many opportunities for our patients to participate in current bleeding disorder research.

Conditions We Treat

  • Congenital platelet disorders (e.g., Glanzmann’s thrombasthenia, Bernard–Soulier syndrome)
  • Rare clotting factor deficiencies (e.g, Factor II, V, X, VII and XI)

    Recognized care

    Our center is one of three federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTC) in Tennessee and is part of a regional network of over 135 HTCs in the United States. HTCs in this network abide by federal guidelines for the delivery of comprehensive hemophilia services as developed by the Maternal Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF). Our center is also one of five state-funded centers.

    We work closely with the Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy to provide all the clotting factors, ancillary supplies and other medicines you may need. Our goal is to provide the highest quality care in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

    We offer personalized educational sessions for all family members and/or caregivers for patients newly diagnosed with a bleeding disorder or requiring a port for home infusion.
