Just like cancer, trauma is a disease that is preventable. You can make a difference in helping people avoid traumatic experiences. As a member of our Army of Advocates, you can raise awareness to help prevent this disease that claims the lives of millions of people every year.
Awareness Starts at the Top
It is our job to get the message out that Trauma is a disease that is preventable. The most important place to start with that message is with our local government representatives. It is important for our legislators to understand that when they are voting on crucial legislation, they could be saving a life. Legislation such as seatbelt laws, helmet laws, stricter drinking and driving limits and gun control laws are key in preventing trauma.
As a trauma advocate, you can contact your legislator and voice your opinion when trauma related legislation is up for a vote.
