Our crisis assessment and admissions program at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Learn more here.
First, a clinician will talk to you or your family to learn about your conditions and issues you need help with. The clinician will use this knowledge to find the mental health services that can help you. He or she may share your information with members of our staff. Our goal is to find the level of care with the most freedom that will meet your needs and ensure your safety.
We'll work with your health insurance company to coordinate treatment. Your insurance company will require us to review the signs, symptoms, and specific problems that you are experiencing. The insurance company will then decide whether to approve the treatment we recommend.
If you're insured under TennCare, the insurance company will often require the local mobile crisis team to help assess your treatment needs. Dealing with insurance companies can take time, but we'll do our best to make the process as quick and smooth as possible.
We will do our utmost to safeguard your privacy during your treatment at Vanderbilt. We take our patients' privacy and personal information very seriously. Learn more here.
We work with each patient to create a discharge plan that will help you stay healthy and stable once you leave the hospital. We'll give you detailed written guidelines about future appointments, follow-up care, medicines and where to find help. As you make progress, we may change your discharge plan along the way.
