I felt like my concerns were brushed off and I really didn't feel like there was a connection with my concerns.

Kristin Hoover is compassionate, attentive, and always takes the time to truly listen, which means so much when living with chronic pain. I appreciate that she works with me to explore treatment options that can improve my quality of life. She has been instrumental in helping coordinate my care and making sure I have access to the treatments I need. I can't say enough good things about her.

Kristin is always timely and pleasant. Takes as much time as needed. Listens intently to concerns. I do feel rushed regarding signing opioid agreement. Whether it changes or not, electronic signatures without being shown what the agreement contains is undesirable. There may be other factors at play however.

I arrived a few minutes before my 7:30 am appointment time. I was called back at 7:31 and was finished with my appointment at 7:39. The APRN did not physically examine me. She came in and looked at my file and asked about the effectiveness of the shots. I told her they didn't work and she said unfortunately there are no other shots we can give and pretty much said there were no other options for me. Dr. Marascalchi preformed my procedure and said if the shots didn't work, we'd move to the next step. I asked about narcotics and she said they don't prescribe them. I then asked about Botox shots for my issue. She told me they only do that in neurology. She recommended an OTC supplement. When your head feels like it's on fire from the time you wake up until you finally fall asleep and being told you have no other options and you should take a supplement, it's one of the most depressing moments you can experience in your life. I Started to cry after basically being told that I have no other options for my occipital neuralgia pain and left. I then get home and read the Notes from Care Team to see that she had put that she spent 21 minutes with me providing counseling, communication of plan, and coordinating care, all of which she did none of. She also stated she reviewed my separately reported medical history. If she had read my chart, she would've seen that I am prescribed gabapentin from Dr. Sonya Reid, who is my medical oncologist, and not told me I need to come back to the pain clinic every six months for a new prescription for gabapentin.

Being in pain, especially after 3 surgeries in the last year, is a very depressing and isolating experience. I have interacted with more providers than I can count and two stand out as being above and beyond- Kristin is one of those. She listens to me with her full attention asking not only about my physical pain but my emotional and mental wellbeing as well as my family. She provides excellent medical care and roots for me as my condition has gotten better. I couldn't dream of a better provider!
