I felt so incredibly dismissed during my visit with Dr. Derwenskus. I have been living with chronic nerve pain every day for 4 months now and she made me feel as though the fact that my pain didn't perfectly fit any conditions she knew of was my fault. I understand that my symptoms could be attributed to several different things, but at no point did we discuss what any of those things could be. I made it clear that with the amount of pain I'm in every day, I don't have the luxury of waiting and seeing, and yet the plan she came up with was to wait and see and check in in 3 months--3 more months of me likely being in excruciating pain with no relief. She said the best we could do was try to treat my symptoms, yet she hardly acknowledge any of the other symptoms I described to her apart from the pain. I told her how disruptive this has become to my life, especially at the age of 24, that I feel like I'm losing my mind because of how much I'm hurting, and she made no attempt at an empathetic response. I left the office crying, feeling like I had completely wasted my time. I will not be recommending this provider to anyone and I will be seeking a second opinion myself.

The doctor was great. I wish someone had just peaked in to say we haven't forgotten about you. I was going to inquire at the hour mark if I hadn't been seen yet.

I just don't feel like the dr wants to find out how to treat my condition. I recognize I am a difficult case. But I just want to find a treatment that works.
