exam bedsideFor a 1st or 3rd Trimester OB Ultrasound: You do not need a full bladder.

For a Pelvic, 2nd Trimester or Ultrascreen Ultrasound: Drink two 12 oz. glasses of fluid, other than milk, 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Eating before your ultrasound is allowed.

For an Abdominal Ultrasound: Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum after midnight the night before your scheduled appointment.

Ultrascreen/Nuchal Translucency

Vanderbilt Center for Women's Imaging offers the Ultrascreen/Nuchal Translucency procedure for your patients. The first trimester screening can be performed during 11 weeks 1 day to 13 weeks 6 days.

The first in Nashville, Center for Women's Imaging offers Instant Risk Assessment. IRA allows your patients to receive their results the same date as their ultrasound visit. On the scheduled ultra-screen date, the sonographer takes the measurements and along with the blood work from the lab, will be able to print out the instant report. Click here for detailed instructions. You can obtain IRA kits by calling our office and they will be delivered to you. The kit contains every item needed to obtain blood from a finger stick, and send to the lab for testing.
