Amounts Generally Billed

IRS Section 501(r) requires hospitals to limit the amounts charged for emergency and other medically necessary care provided to individuals eligible for financial assistance to no more than the amounts generally billed (AGB) to insured individuals. VCH calculates AGB percentages using the “Look-Back” method and including Medicare fee-for-service and all private health insurers that pay claims to VCH.

As of April 30, 2025, the AGB percentage for patients who receive services at VCH, based on the 12 months period ending December 31, 2024, is 8% of total billed facility charges for Eligible Health Care Services, resulting in a minimum required discount of 92%.
