Chemical ablation

Doctors can use foam sclerosants – substances that cause veins to swell – along with ultrasound guidance, to close saphenous veins. This method can achieve results like those in radiofrequency or laser treatments. Scientists have done many clinical trials  using this technique with a specially made foam. Progress of these trials is being monitored to learn more about how well they work.
