Outpatient Laboratory Services
Lab tests are an important part of your healthcare. Vanderbilt University Medical Center provides fast, reliable and convenient laboratory services with exceptional customer service.
If you have blood work ordered by an authorized Vanderbilt healthcare provider, you can walk into any of our convenient locations to have your blood drawn. You can drop off other specimens (e.g., urine, stool, etc.) at either The Vanderbilt Clinic (TVC) Patient Lab on our main campus or at the Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks Patient Lab.

Vanderbilt phlebotomists are highly skilled in collecting blood from veins and finger sticks in patients of all age groups.

You can walk in to any of our convenient locations to have your blood drawn. No scheduling is required. Orders for your lab tests must come from an authorized Vanderbilt Health provider.
- Rapid results
You can see most lab results as soon as they are available in our secure online patient portal, My Health At Vanderbilt (MHAV). With MHAV, you can also access your medical records, refill your prescriptions, schedule appointments and contact your care team.
- Recognized care
All Vanderbilt clinical laboratories are licensed by the state of Tennessee and fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the AABB.
Tests, Treatments and Services
Our outpatient laboratories collect and process blood samples and other specimens (e.g., urine or stool) needed for your lab tests.
Testing notes
- Timed glucose tolerance test patients must arrive with adequate time to check in and complete collection(s) before clinic closure.
- Cryoglobulin Evaluation test can only be collected at The Vanderbilt Clinic (TVC) from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- If you have a history of fainting, please inform a member of the staff.
