The Vanderbilt Comprehensive Hypertension Center offers one-day service for assessment and evaluation of adults with hypertension (high blood pressure).

This includes diagnosis and treatment of difficult-to-control hypertension as well as ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to rule out "white coat hypertension" (when blood pressure is higher in the doctor's office than when it is measured outside of the office).

We also evaluate rare causes of high blood pressure such as:

  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Renal artery stenosis

  • Hyperaldosteronism

We also teach patients about lifestyle changes to lower blood pressure and proper techniques for home blood pressure measurement.

The Vanderbilt Hypertension Clinic has served patients for more than 50 years. The American Heart Association has designated our clinic as a certified Comprehensive Hypertension Center. This certification recognizes our commitment to following proven, research-based treatment guidelines to care for people with complex or difficult-to-treat hypertension.
