Acceptance to Service

Vanderbilt Home Care is committed to providing high-quality care to all eligible patients. Acceptance for home health services is based on an individualized assessment of each patient's clinical needs and Vanderbilt Home Care's ability to safely and effectively provide the necessary care and services.

Admission decisions are made without regard to diagnosis, condition, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, source of payment, or the anticipated cost of care. Patients are accepted for service based on factors including clinical appropriateness, availability of qualified staff, geographic service area, and the organization's ability to meet the patient's identified care needs.

Service Availability

Certain specialized care needs may require additional review to determine whether Vanderbilt Home Care has the necessary clinical resources and staffing to safely provide the required services. When a patient's needs cannot be met by Vanderbilt Home Care, the patient and referral source will be informed and assistance with identifying appropriate alternative providers may be offered.

Examples of services that may require additional review include:

  • Behavioral health services requiring specialized psychiatric nursing expertise.
  • Wound care requiring multiple skilled dressing changes per day or other intensive treatment needs that exceed available staffing resources.
