Optometry/Primary Eye Care

Vanderbilt’s Optometry service has a well-earned reputation for excellence for ensuring the total health of your eyes. We provide comprehensive care that includes primary eye care, vision screening and fitting for corrective lenses, as well as screening for eye diseases and systemic diseases that may affect your vision.

Optometry: Why Choose Vanderbilt

  • Providers with specialized expertise. It can be especially hard to get the right prescription for eyeglasses if you’ve had extensive surgery or experienced trauma to your eye. Our optometrists are experts with special training in caring for people who have difficult needs for vision correction.
  • Team approach. If you need even more specialized care for your eyes, our optometrists work closely with Vanderbilt’s large team of subspecialists, who take referrals for more complex treatments. The providers stay in close contact with each other about your case, so no one ever forgets why you came to Vanderbilt and what matters most to you.
  • Advanced technology. Thanks to our advanced technology, you’ll get the best possible care for your vision. Our optometry service uses specialty equipment for diagnosis. We also offer contact lenses made with the most up-to-date materials and designs.
  • Specialty services. Patients come from near and far to Vanderbilt to be fitted for custom-made scleral lenses by our optometry team, a service not available in a typical optometrist’s office.
  • Second opinions. If you would like a second (or third) opinion from one of our experts, we’re happy to provide one. Call (615) 936-2020 to schedule an appointment.
