During my consultation, I did not feel that my concerns, preferences, or values were fully heard or respected. The discussion strongly favored lumpectomy, and mastectomy was not explored in a balanced or collaborative way. I also felt that my support person was dismissed, which undermined shared decision-making.Additionally, information about cosmetic outcomes after mastectomy and reconstruction was presented in a way that felt insensitive and not patient-centered. Examples involving public comparisons and comments about clothing and swimwear felt uncomfortable and did not support an emotionally safe discussion. While I value honest and realistic information, I would have benefited from a more compassionate, respectful, and collaborative approach, especially as someone newly diagnosed and facing major surgical decisions.

Dr. Kristina Shaffer is the most amazing doctor I have ever had in my entire life.She is very professional and knowledgeable. She takes time to explain my diagnosis and finds out my treatment expectations then gives her suggestions. Dr. Shaffer Is incredibly thorough and even took the time to call me one evening to discuss some tests I had that day. She is amazing and I feel so happy and blessed to have her as my doctor.
