Dr. Schaeffer has been EXCELLENT with my mom's care. We love her so much. She explains things in a way that makes it easy to understand. Somehow she manages to inject some lightness into the mood while still keeping the topic focused and series - she strikes the perfect balance.

During my consultation, I did not feel that my concerns, preferences, or values were fully heard or respected. The discussion strongly favored lumpectomy, and mastectomy was not explored in a balanced or collaborative way. I also felt that my support person was dismissed, which undermined shared decision-making.Additionally, information about cosmetic outcomes after mastectomy and reconstruction was presented in a way that felt insensitive and not patient-centered. Examples involving public comparisons and comments about clothing and swimwear felt uncomfortable and did not support an emotionally safe discussion. While I value honest and realistic information, I would have benefited from a more compassionate, respectful, and collaborative approach, especially as someone newly diagnosed and facing major surgical decisions.
