Dr Cottrell has ALWAYS been very professional, appropriate in his approach to care with concern for my safety and well-being. Having suffered from previous medical negligence and malpractice in Illinois, I am hypersensitive to my care being provided by the Standard and Excellence. I feel completely safe with his recommendations. I know that he has my safety at utmost attention.

Dr. Cottrell is very good at listening to questions/concerns and focusing the conversation in a productive & efficient manner to ensure everything is addressed during the visit. He explains conditions clearly, as well as treatment options to assist decision-making based on facts as well as patient preferences. He has been my PCP for 8 years now. If I bring up a concern, he'll discuss it.

I have been with Dr. Cottrell since he came to Vanderbilt. I have a great doctor/patient relationship with him. I completely rely on him to take care of my health needs and to direct me to any specialist that I may need. He has a wonderful staff and they make sure it is easy to get a message to him if I need something between visits. I also use My Health At Vanderbilt to communicate with his nurses and with him when needed.

Dr Cottrell has always been, and continues to be a wonderful primary care doctor. He listens to you. Asks direct questions and makes sure you understand your options.

Dr. Cottrell is a wonderful, caring and knowledgeable physician!!!
