Vanderbilt Medical Center - Vanderbilt Breast Center in Nashville, TN

Research

An important part of what we do at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is research. Our nationally renowned researchers focus on discovering new approaches for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

As with all our research programs, our work in breast cancer is comprehensive, collaborative and multi-disciplinary. Our research includes:

  • world-class basic science
  • translational research aimed at translating discoveries into patient care
  • population-based work to uncover causes and preventions
  • innovative patient treatment studies called clinical trials.

Vanderbilt-Ingram research also includes a Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) in breast cancer. This is one of only ten such centers selected and funded by the National Cancer Institute.
