This is not my usual OB/Gyn provider but my usual provider in the same office/practice did not have any availability for me to be seen within a reasonable time for my first OB visit for confirmation of pregnancy. This provider seemed like he knew very little about me and had not reviewed my chart (he did not even know my age). He did not offer any information (verbal or written) regarding a new pregnancy and things to be aware of. Several lab tests were ordered but none of these were explained to me in advance (in terms of what they were or why they were being drawn) and the results were released to me through MyHealth at Vandy without any explanations either. Luckily, I am a health care provider myself and I understand what all of it means and generally what is advisable and not during pregnancy but if I were someone without that background knowledge I would be feeling completely lost and confused. The provider also did not explain any follow-up care next steps except to schedule my next appointment. I requested genetic testing to be performed which he did not do and required me to follow-up with messages to the office in the week after my appointment to get this arranged. This was by far the worst encounter I have ever had with a health care provider in my entire life and is extremely disappointing to me as a Vanderbilt employee.

the doctor seemed very condescending to me, didn't listen to my mother when explaining prior issues and other health issues during pregnancy that other family members have. I just was not very happy with this visit at all.
Patient | September 17, 2018

Dr. Lotshaw really listen to my concerns and what I wanted to happen with my care. He put what was most important to me first. He also referred me to someone that could help me achieve the goals I wanted. Thank you Dr. Lotshaw for listening and for all your help.
Patient | September 13, 2018

I felt a little condescended to with regard to me being in tune with my own body. At times, rather than speaking in too-big of words, the provider could have spoken a more thorough more scientific level (this as after knowing I was a professional scientist)
Patient | August 23, 2018

He was very rude. I felt as though I was wasting his time.
Patient | June 27, 2018

In addition to my last comments, this provider hardly even talked to us. He was the most unfriendly doctor I have ever experienced and I truly try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Dr. Lotshaw delivered top notch care to me in 2012... and yrs later (now) and I'm SO happy.
Patient | February 28, 2018

I have full confidence in Dr. Lotshaw - I never leave worrying unnecessary or feeling like I don't know what's going on.
Patient | February 27, 2018

All my questions were answered
Patient | February 20, 2018

Dr. Lotshaw is a wonderful physician, always takes time for his patients.
Patient | December 28, 2017

the provider did not look over my HISTORY to know that I already had this procedure done before.
Patient | December 25, 2017

He didn't seem very concerned about what was going on or about my symptoms I was having. He also tried to downplay everything I said that I was concerned about. He didn't really think nothing needed to be done, but I wanted to know more about what is going on with my body and so he finally decided to order a ultrasound test. He didn't seem too concerned about my past medical history and didn't seem too prepared like he had read anything about me prior to seeing me for my exam.
Patient | December 20, 2017

I trust Dr. Lotshaw fully. He always listens to my concerns and questions, and is not quick to get anxious or overly excited which in turns helps me be less anxious.
Patient | December 11, 2017

This doctor just seems afraid of giving OB/GYN exams. He is not nearly as thorough as my doctors were in North Carolina.
