What is a companion?
A companion is a non-nursing member of the health care team.

What can a companion do?

  • Provide transportation
  • Make sure you are safe
  • Prepare a light meal
  • Keep you company

What can a companion NOT do?

  • Organize your medications
  • Give you medications to take

How do I request a companion for my procedure?

  1. Call 936-0336 at least 24 hours in advance and ask to speak with  an    intake nurse. Be prepared with the date of your procedure and your address. A minimum of 4 hours per day is requested, but this is    generally the length of your procedure.
  2. You will meet with an RN and your companion on the date of your procedure, at the latest.
  3. Cancellations must be made within 24 hours.
  4. If  you would like for your Companion to drive your vehicle, you must sign a release form prior to your procedure. You and your   companion may also travel by public transportation.

Is this covered by my insurance?
These services are usually not covered under most insurance plans. Payment options and cost will be discussed during the referral conversation.
