Vanderbilt Pain Medicine

The Adult Acute Pain Service at Vanderbilt offers relief for patients suffering from acute pain because of an injury or other causes. We offer procedures such as:

• Epidural catheters
• Peripheral nerve blocks
• Peripheral nerve catheters
• Pain management for complex shoulder and arm surgery, knee arthroplasties, extensive ankle restorations and repeated burn debridements

Rather than using drugs, we practice targeted pain control in the area of injury. This offers better pain control, improves patient satisfaction and can reduce time in the hospital. Some patients can be treated in an outpatient setting, where they can be treated and then go home with a small, disposable pain pump.
