Working With the Community

Vanderbilt Sports Medicine offers a wide spectrum of experience for Student Athletic Trainers. Not only do we provide the medical coverage for Vanderbilt University, we also are the official medical providers for the Nashville Predators, the Nashville Sounds (AAA baseball), Belmont University and 18 local high schools. We have athletic trainers in clinics, the fitness center and working as physician extenders in our satellite locations. Vanderbilt takes pride in its commitment to Middle Tennessee.

Athletic Training

Vanderbilt Sports Medicine is proud to be the healthcare choice for the Belmont Bruins and Vanderbilt Commodores. Our staff of doctors and athletic trainers provides on-site and year-round care for all teams.

High School Outreach
Vanderbilt Sports Medicine offers excellence in athletic care through our outreach program. Each high school is assigned a certified, licensed athletic trainer for athletic event coverage. Our Sports Medicine Team provides medical coverage to 18 high schools in Middle Tennessee.

Outpatient Clinic
Rehabilitation Services at Vanderbilt Orthopaedic uses a team approach to patient care. Orthopaedic doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and athletic trainers work together to treat the whole patient with personalized care.

Orthopaedic Fitness Center
Whether it is knee, back, shoulder or ankle pain, the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute Fitness Center's highly trained staff can customize a program to get our patients moving again. Our certified and credentialed exercise specialists and personal trainers work with licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, certified athletic trainers and Vanderbilt doctors to recognize, rehabilitate and prevent orthopedic injuries.

We offer the most comprehensive sports medicine service in Middle Tennessee. Our highly trained team cares for all athletic injuries and specializes in knee and shoulder injuries. Vanderbilt has over 40 orthopaedic doctors in 10 specialty areas. Ten of those physicians make up the department of Sports Medicine alone. All physicians on staff are fellowship trained in sports medicine.
