Alex Diamond, DO
Dr. Diamond, DO is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation as well as Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Medical Center. He serves as a Team Physician for Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities, the Nashville Predators, the Nashville Sounds and Antioch High School. Originally from Pottsville, PA, a small coal-mining community, he earned a BA in Sociology from Duke University in 1998 and is a 2003 graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA and received his fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Diamond is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics including its Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness. He is currently participating in research regarding sports injury prevention, physical activity and pediatric obesity, the physical and psycho-social influences of youth sports and the factors that affect long-term activity patterns. In addition, Dr. Diamond is pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at Vanderbilt University gaining advanced skills in clinical and patient-oriented research. Dr. Diamond's clinical interests include the evaluation and treatment of all sports-related injuries and non-surgical orthopaedic conditions in patients of all ages with a special focus on treating youth and adolescent athletes.
