Li-Jun Ma, M.D., Ph.D.

 Dr. Li-Jun Ma is a research associate professor in the Department of Pathology at Vanderbilt Medical Center studying kidney diseases, diabetes and obesity for 14 years.

At the Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health Dr. Ma teaches Therapeutic Tai Chi classes. He began studying Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan at the age of seven with Master XiFang Chen from Chen village in China. Since his training he won two gold medals in the Chicago Wushu Tournament as well as participating in demonstrations and workshops for Tai Chi.

Dr. Ma has been teaching Tai Chi in the Nashville area since 1999 including the YMCA, MTSU, The Nashville Chinese School, and Fannie Mae Dees Park. Due to his medical background and extensive Tai Chi experience he is an ideal instructor for Therapeutic Tai Chi classes at the Center for Integrative Health.
