Statement of Need
This will be a surgical technique conference. The purpose of this conference is to describe in detail the techniques and pitfalls of complex valve operations. The emphasis of each presentation will be on specific technical details: how the experts actually do these operations, step by step. Movies and schematics will play a large part of the conference.
Target Audience
This conference is designed for cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, residents/fellows, and other health care professionals involved in the care and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.
Goals and Objectives
After participating in the CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss:
- Technical details of complex valve surgery including valve sparing aortic root replacement, minimally invasive mitral valve replacement and management of atrio-ventricular dehiscence
- Pitfalls in management of complex valve surgery
- Indications and techniques for reconstruction of the fibrous skeleton of the heart for endocarditis
Accreditation and Credit Designation Statement
Vanderbilt School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Vanderbilt School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 15.0 AMA PRA Category I Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Registration fees may be paid by credit card using Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Fees may also be paid by check, payable to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
No registration will be accepted over the phone.
Cancellation Policy
Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Cardiac Surgery, will refund your registration fee less a $100.00 administrative fee provided you notify us in writing no later than September 30, 2009. Cancellations will not be accepted over the phone. No refund will be made after this date.
Registration is non-transferable. In the event of cancellation or rescheduling of this conference due to unforeseen circumstances, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Cardiac Surgery, will refund registration fees in full.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Cardiac Surgery, is not responsible for non-transferable, non-refundable airline tickets, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, or other associated goods/services procured in connection with attendance at this symposium.

Marriott Nashville at Vanderbilt University at 2555 West End Avenue in Nashville, Tennessee is the location for the symposium. Due to overwhelming success of the symposium, the Vanderbilt Marriott is currently at full occupancy.
