Gold Standard: Board Certified

When choosing a cardiologist or cardiac surgeon for your heart care, board certification is considered the gold standard. A national board sets the standards of care and certifies physicians who have met the required number of years in specialized training and passed a thorough exam. Certification is one way to objectively measure a physician's qualifications.

Vanderbilt Heart provides one access telephone number to ask questions-- including about board certification-- and provide information on scheduling an appointment, directions and insurance participation. Call (615) 322-2318.
