Frequently Asked Questions

1. When will the new Center at One Hundred Oaks be open (i.e., when will be moving)? 
The current plans are to begin construction in July 2009 with the facility completed and open by mid-late March of 2010.

 2. What will the enrollment and monthly rates be for new members of the fitness center as well as existing Dayani members?
The enrollment fees and monthly rates for new members of the fitness center have not been set at this time. We hope to know these rates by the time our pre-sales office opens in the summer of 2009. However, for the existing Dayani Center members, we can promise you that you will pay no enrollment fee when we open the Vanderbilt Fitness and Wellness Center(VFWC) and that your monthly membership due's will be unchanged for the first year at One Hundred Oaks. For all members, there will be no long-term contracts, as membership for everyone will be on a month-to-month basis. 

3. Will there be plenty of parking and will it be free? 
There will be approximately 350 ground level parking spaces dedicated tot he patients and members of the Vanderbilt Fitness and Wellness Center. There will be multiple handicapped spaces and the parking lot is conveniently located to the main entrance of the VFWC, which is on the northwest corner of the One Hundred Oaks Mall. Parking will be free for all members and patients.

4. What will the temperature of the pool(s) be?
Junior Olympic Lap Pool: 79 - 82F
Warm Water Therapy Pool: 88 - 90F
Whirlpool: 102 - 104F

5. What about security? Will it be safe? 
Security at the entire One Hundred Oaks Mall facility and campus will be managed by the Vanderbilt Police Department 365 days/year. The Vanderbilt Police Precinct at One Hundred Oaks will actually be located within the Fitness and Wellness Center.

6. What hours will the Center be open for members (vs patients)?
Member: Monday – Friday: 5:00 AM – 11:00 PM      Saturday & Sunday : 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM 
Patient: Monday - Friday: 7:00AM - 4:00 PM

7. Will the Center be open on Sundays? 
Yes, from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

8. Will the new Center have a track for walking and/or running?
Due to the lay of the new Center, we will not have a traditional track (like we now have at the Dayani Center) which allows uninterrrupted walking and running. However, we have designed into the Center what we are calling a "walking path". The walking path will be clearly marked and we anticipate approximately 16-18 laps/mile. Though in places it will be impacted to some degree by cross-traffic (other members moving about the Center), it will be a safe place for our members to walk indoors (no running allowed) throughout the year.

10. Will my teenager be able to join with me?
 Yes, age 14 and up are able to join as members.

11. Will there be any transportation (provided by Vanderbilt) from the 21st avenue campus to the Vanderbilt Fitness and Wellness Center?
Yes, between the hours of 7AM and 7PM, Vanderbilt University Medical Center will offer a free shuttle service for staff, members, and patients of Vanderbilt Health between the 21st Avenue and the One Hundred Oaks campuses. It is anticipated that the shuttles will depart every 10 minutes during these operating hours.

12. Will the exercise equipment be new?
Yes, you will be exercising on brand new, state of the art cardio and strength training equipment! In addition, we will be updating and replacing our equipment through the years so that ourmembers continually have access to the latest technology to promote their health and fitness.

13. What type of patient-related programs will you have at the Wellness center?
All of the current programs available to patients at the Dayani Center and Center for Integrative Health will move to One Hundred Oaks.

15. Will all of the current Dayani staff be moving to the One Hundred Oaks facility?
Yes, all current Dayani and Integrative Health staff will move to One Hundred Oaks. In addition, we anticipate hiring an additional 60-80 staff and consultants to meet the needs of our expanded Center and grouwing membership.

16. I have heard that the Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health (VCIH) will be located at the Wellness Center. What is the VCIH and what type of services do they provide?

17. Will you keep the Dayani name when you move to One Hundred Oaks? 
The Dayani Center and Center for Integrative Health will collectively be known as The Vanderbilt Fitness and Wellness Center. However, we must work this out with the Dayani family, our intention is to name the Cardiopulmonary and Physical Thearpy exercise room after Dr. Kim Dayani. Both the Dayani name and our wonderful history with the Dayani family mean a great deal to us and we fully intend to keep the Dayani legacy alive in some capacity at One Hundred Oaks.
