Stress, Worry & Optimism Group Series

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
~Maya Angelou

How often do you “stress” and worry about situations that are completely outside of your control? How often do you beat yourself up or jump to negative conclusions about others? Although stress is part of life, our tendency to worry about the future (“What If?”) and dwell on the past (“If Only!”) can generate a great deal of unnecessary stress and frustration for us and contribute to a negative outlook.

The Vanderbilt Dayani Center for Health and Wellness offers this 5-week group series for adults focused on managing stress and developing a more optimistic attitude (or to at least stop being our own worst critic).  This program incorporates principles from Cognitive Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and the emerging field of Positive Psychology.

A strong emphasis is placed upon taking steps NOW to move forward to live a less stressed and more fulfilling life.  That is, this is NOT a program in which we will simply talk about what's causing us stress (e.g., a weekly "support group") - instead, this is a group for those wishing to actively take steps to decrease their stress.

When:  There is no upcoming group scheduled at this time.  To get your name on a list to be be contacted about future programs, please e-mail  angela.j.ford@Vanderbilt.Edu
