The Stahlman Cardiovascular Research laboratory is interested in the molecular genetic regulation of heart and blood vessel development. To this end, they have discovered genes that are essential for the generation of a functional cardiovascular system. They have also found that inhibition of these genes, LEK1 and Bves, leads to predictable abnormalities in developing and adult hearts and blood vessels.
