Medullary Thyroid Cancer
Medullary thyroid cancer is a tumor involving neuroendocrine cells of the thyroid.
This can occur at one site or as part of a syndrome involving other endocrine tumors (Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2).
Vanderbilt doctors are experienced with evaluating and treating both sporadic medullary thyroid cancer and multiple endocrine neoplasia.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis can involve bloodwork, imaging and biopsy testing.
Treatment
This type of cancer is usually treated with surgery.
