Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center

About Our Team

Services in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences are provided by, or under the supervision of, clinicians who are licensed by the State of Tennessee, Division of Health Related Professionals. Audiologists and Speech-language pathologists hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A or CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and may have additional specialty certifications, board certification or training. All clinicians are graduates of accredited training programs and have acquired and demonstrated competencies in their assigned clinical populations and age groups. Licenses and certifications are posted in clinician offices.

The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences is a teaching program. Graduate students will observe and participate in diagnostic evaluations and therapy as a part of their clinical education. All licensed and certified clinical staff hold appointments in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences as clinical educators, and will provide one-on-one teaching and supervision to graduate students and clinical fellows in speech-language pathology. Additionally, the VBWC is a teaching site for occupational therapists, deaf educators, psychologists, physical therapists neuropsychologists and special educators.
