Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks (OHO). There are many different ways to help our patients, families and guests. Please review the following list of opportunities.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with us: 

• Complete a volunteer application
• After the application is submitted and reviewed, Laurie Kush with OHO volunteer services, will call to schedule an interview.
• OHO volunteers do not need to attend an information session.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Pediatric Rehabilitation Clinic
Monday – Friday 10:00-12noon, 1:00-3:00pm & 3:00-5:00pm

Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up.  Assist with office support and infection control. Monitor children and provide activities in waiting area and gym while parents are in conference. Under the one on one direction of a therapist assist with clearly defined specific activities in the gym. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.

Undergraduate and Graduate students must go through www.vanderbiltlearningcenter.org to set up shadowing/internship opportunities at Pediatric Rehabilitation.

Center for Women’s Health
Monday – Friday 9:00-11:30am & 1:00-4:00pm

Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up.  Direct patient to front desk to get buzzer.
Monitor and provide activities for children and families in waiting areas. Report feedback from patients and families in the waiting areas.  Monitor the check out lobby to ensure that patients are directed to the next available PSR. Assist with office support. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.

Heart Institute Clinic
Tuesday-Wednesday 9:00-11:30am & 1:00-4:00pm

Greet all Heart Patients, and monitor entrance to assist patients and families. Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up. Direct patients to front desk to get buzzer. Assist with office support.
Survey for feedback from patients and families in waiting areas. Assist patients with accessing patient transport as directed. Maintain a positive relationship/communication flow with Heart patients. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.

Breast Center
Monday – Friday 9:00-11:00am & 2:00-4:00pm

Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up. Direct patients to the check in desk to get a buzzer. Monitor exterior and interior waiting rooms. Escort patients from waiting room to exam room.
Assist with office support and outreach activities preparation.  Assist with Resource area/Library by restocking materials, and researching needed resources as directed by physicians and nurse practitioners. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.

Medical Infusion
Monday – Friday 10:00am -1:00pm

Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up.  Direct patients to the check in desk to get a buzzer. Monitor exterior waiting areas and provide activities for families and children of patients.  Visit each infusion bay and distribute ordered items to patients.  Provide a listening ear while visiting with patients who want company.  Assist with office and clinical material preparation. Meet Musicians On Call Volunteers and orient and guide them to the clinic and on their visits with patients. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.

Guest Services
Monday – Friday 8:00am-12 Noon & 1:00-4:00pm

Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up. Direct patients to the check in desk to get a buzzer. Monitor the concourse and provide activities for waiting patients and their families.  Escort patients and families who need assistance finding their clinic.  Provide on call assistance to clinics with needs. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.

University Pediatrics
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 9:00-11:00am & 1:00-3:00pm

Assist with kiosk check in and MyHealth at Vanderbilt sign up Direct patients to the check in desk to get a buzzer. Monitor the interior and exterior wait areas and provide activities for patients and families.  Prepare new patient packets. Ensure that the wait areas are neat, and report any spills to volunteer supervisor.
